American Recovery and Reinvestment Act

This week President Obama signed the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. Read the full bill here to read the final text of the legislation.  There are a number of provisions in the act for small businesses including ways for business to get loans and venture capital.  Check out this summary from the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship .

 

Check out Recovery.gov to figure out where the money from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act is going. Here you can find information on it's impact and frequently asked questions. As the money gets distributed by Federal agencies, you will be able to see where it's going.

I am a freelance writer doing an article on small businesses and how they can potentially benefit from the ARRA, particularly the education portion. Under the $100B of education funding, it would appear there are many opportunities for small businesses -particularly those involved in training - to benefit.
What I am unclear on is how a small business would go about benefitting from this funding. Do states get the education funds and dole them out to districts, with businesses having to get in touch with districts themselves to provide a service? Do businesses try to contract with their State Education Departments directly? 
I'm really just trying to gather info specific to the education portion of the bill. Any info you can provide on the process and/or potential benefit would be much appreciated.

I wish they included more provisions for us Small Business owners, especially since congress spent over a trillion on bailouts.

For some information, see the blog article posted today on Community Development Block Grants.  Numerous cities and counties have received additional funding for these programs through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
