Before i ask my question i would like to tell little bit about myself. I have come to USA last year. I am trying to get into leather apparel import business because the country i came from is quite famous of its leather products.My question is what papers do i need to start a small home-based business and what papers do i need to pick the stuff from the port. And if i import leather apparels how would i know that what would be the custom per product. For instance, what custom i would pay on the port per jacket.

 

If you think that i wrote any dumb question maybe it is because that i'm novice. So you can also help me and correct me. i would appreciate.

Hi davidjackin,

 

May I ask where and how you are planning to sell your products? If you are selling over the internet, some states have different tax laws that allow for sales tax exemptions on items like clothing. Take a look at our Small Business Tax Guide for more details.

 

We have an Import Export Guide that may shed some light into the the import process. We also blogged about Starting a Business as a Foreign National that has important information and links about importing goods into the U.S.

 

Does anyone else have experience in imports and exports? Please feel free to add!

Thanks for Feedback Christine. First of all i'm not a foreign national i'm a legal resident of USA, but new in USA. Ok i will read the links u suggested me to read....then i will get back to you if i will have more questions. Thanks again
